Before I went with this model, I tried several other cheaper routers. This one won out over the others. First off I find the ASUS brand in gereral to be the winner in terms of customer support and the best interface for set up when it comes to their routers. Then 2nd I find this model of router to be a great device.I currently have about 23 connected devices and there was more when my kids were here. The main console allows for so many things to easily change and monitor. I'll try to go over some of the many features which I am very pleased with.It allows for you to have multiple guest wifis, which protects the main network. This is especially important now that so many of the devices in my home are smart devices and the wrong person accessing the router could turn off security cams and system and even open the garage door and get inside.It allows you to connect a printer or hard drive to run from the network. I have a plex server and the port forwarding features were so easy to set up and monitor.For parents, the features are great.I have both my kids set up on their own wireless connections. They both are separate from each other and the rest of the network. This allows me to monitor and have control over their access. I set their wifi signals to slow to a useless crawl on weekdays evenings after 11, and I can have content blocked without making it an obvious thing. It allows you to see all the domains each device on the network goes to, so that I don't need to appear that I have invaded all their privacy, but can still keep watch in case.My son is into pc gaming and the router can easily be set for ideal gaming focused use and then turned off when that's not what I need at that time.And if you have any trouble Asus has great support service. While I'm a pretty tech savvy person, networking has never been my favorite thing to deal with. This takes a lot of that frustration off my shoulders.
