I already own the version of this feeder with the extended food holder and no battery. I don't like the fact that my current one requires a wire and loses connection whenever unplugged, so I figured I'd give this one a shot because it would allegedly solve that issue. For the most part, that issue is solved, but the user manual states that it cannot connect to internet or do anything other than open or close the feeding door on battery, which does not seem necessary. However, despite this being in the user manual, I was still able to connect to the feeder to view battery status, set schedules, and manually feed, so I'm not sure what it's on about. Other than that potential issue, this is a great feeder and a clear upgrade over the wire-only version. Connection to the app was seamless once I realized it needs a 2.5ghz connection, but it did not work on 5ghz or wifi 6. I love the ability to very finely tune portion sizes with the swappable feeding trays, and it is far more consistent than other feeder styles such as the rolling barrel style auto feeders. I know this will feed exactly how much food I want it to, so I never have to worry about overfeeding when I'm on vacation and coming back to algae or even dead fish from nutrient spikes. The smallest option is small enough to feed just a single fish, while the largest option is more than enough for my entire reef tank when you set it to dump multiple times in one feeding. Overall, I'm very happy with this product.
