I bought this to replace the older version of it that I had had for over ten years. I had broken the bowl of the older one, and it would have cost only $13 less to replace just the bowl. I wish I had broken the old one sooner, because this version has a bunch of upgraded features that me made realize I disliked some of the older versions functionality. It's lighter, for starters. The suction cups on the bottom to keep it from "walking" are great. The blade system is a little easier to use, and I love that the lid parts are now separate instead of hinged together, which makes for easier washing. The size and shape of the hole in the lid has been changed for the better, and there is no longer a hole in the bowl when you remove it from the base because the piece for the blade stays in place. I hated that hole! The cord wrap under the base is another welcome improvement.All in all I'm thrilled that I broke my new one so I was forced to replace it with this overhauled version. Looking forward to it being a staple in my kitchen for a long time, as was its predecessor.
