The system of a top tray that sits fully inside is really useful. I like how it doesn’t interfere with the sealed metal lid, and I like that that metal lid has a little vent with a plug to release pressure if it’s hard to open. That little detail makes a huge difference! I’ve seen lunches go in the trash because an insulated container couldn’t be opened in time. This one has a plastic lid that locks on and covers the metal one, and I think this double lid really helps keep in the heat. I have a smaller one with a hollow plastic lid and it loses heat much faster. That one is good for 30-45 minutes, I use it for snacks. This one is good for double that, in terms of is my food still warm. I got this for dinner leftovers, when I’m too busy to eat right when it’s hot. Specifically grilled burgers and baked fries. The top is just right for a patty or two and the bottom fits a large serving of fries. The one problem I found is the fries get soggy. There’s no avoiding it. They’ll still be warm, and they get a little burger flavor infusion, but they’ll be soggy. Other fried foods fare similarly, at least the crispy coating. Fried chicken- the meat keeps well, the breading gets soft and falls off. Grilled chicken is perfect for this, on pasta with sauce and veggies up top. The insulation is good, better than others I’ve used. It can do cold stuff too, but unless I’m packing ice cream, I’ll be using this hot. Good value, this one solves several problems that affected older insulated food containers.
