I’ve done my research and Honest Kitchen has never had a recall, it’s human grade, easy to make and store & my dog loves it! Been using for 2-3 years with no regrets. I mix my dog’s with some bone broth or hot water & often add dry food to the top of it. I’ve only purchased the chicken flavor & there isn’t an odor, but I have heard the fish flavors are pretty stinky.My dog is super old and only has three teeth left. Oatmeal like consistency that is easy to prepare (like instant oatmeal consistency is based on how much water you use) and tasty (I guess since she usually eats it all - I have not tried it despite the claim that it is fit for human consumption) and easy for dogs with teeth/ mouth issues to consume.Ideally I would love to feed my dog raw or fresh food, but I travel for work and when I go for convenience, this is great. You have to watch the water content as you can easily make it too soupy and I wonder if it really fills her up, although beagles are forever hungry. I don’t think it smells bad and it stores well. My pup hates waiting the 3 minutes to absorbe the water but she gets over it. It makes it like an oatmeal consistency. It would be great for dogs with bad teeth that have a hard time chewing. I try to give her crunchy treats though as I would think this mushy consistency would get old. The price has definitely gone way up though so I’ve been looking for alternatives. I used to get this for under $50 for the large 16lb one and now it’s almost $80 with taxes.For reference: I feed 1/2 cup twice a day and the 16lb box lasts about 40ish daysWe have two boys who love this food. The chicken, turkey and beef flavors. Add some water and stir it up. It smells like human grade food. Leads me to believe the ingredients are bette than kibble. Our boys have food sensitivities so we’re careful about what we feed them. No issues with this food.We had been doing a different soft food for our boxers. But if you travel anywhere it was not convenient because it has to be refrigerated. This you can take anywhere and just add warm water for a nice meal. They remind us nightly if it is after 6 pm and they haven’t had dinner!!The food is a little pricey but I know it is much better quality than any feed grade food. Once I switched my dog to this, she barely ever drinks water. She actually has even more frequent bowel movements and no more shiny oily slimy poop like she had from the kibble/feed grade junk. Dogs naturally get most of their moisture from their prey in the wild so adding enough water is key. I feel much better giving her something I myself would eat. Real food for real dogs.My dog has terrible skin issues and this is the only food he can have that does not make him scratch.I feed this in the morning to my three labs and my Yorkie. They all love it! It is expensive but I think so much better than kibble and definitely easier to digest. I supplement with some freeze fried raw, some homemade dog food at times. But for ease of use, this is perfect. My Yorkie is 16 years old and my senior lab is 13 1/2 years old so I think they are doing well. A mi cachorrita pomerania de 3 meses le encantó desde el principio y su veternario me comentó que este alimento tenía muchos nutrientes para su crecimiento. I went back and forth between the two products for about a year .. with my old Whippet that passed. My new boy another Whippet, came to us as a young puppy.. he is now a year old and gets an extremely high quality dry food as well as Honest Kitchen, I fed him the remainder of what I had left in the bag of Grandma Lucy's, he would leave it in his dish unless I mixed a lot of people food with it.. I feel that they (dogs) don't get enough water with the dry diet. With Honest Kitchen, I add some of what we have for dinner and mix it in, add the required amount of water and serve..he loves it. .I will sometimes pop it in the microwave to heat it up as well. He is one spoiled puppy. As far as price, I bought it here for 20 dollars less than at my pet food store.. It arrived the next day.. I was totally amazed.. great product... But I do think people should be aware that the porridge like consistency may be an issue for some. I recommend trying a smaller size first. The good bit though - the ingredients seem to be very good quality. There are big bits of turkey in it and it looks really wholesome. I wish my dog would go for it because I'd love to support such a quality product. But we're back to kibble.My dog started out liking it but ended up refusing to eat it probably be oz of the grain inside so I exchanged it for the grain free version called embark. He had embark for a year already and he loves it. Was trying out this grain version but no success. HK is the best food for your dog be oz it allows dogs to get most nutrition and its moist. Keeping dogs well hydrated.My dog became very skinny after eating this for two weeks
